A new species of Eugenia from southeastern Brazil

Eugenia L. It is a genre with a large number of species belonging to the family Myrtaceae. I estimated about 500 species have been found in South America, 350 species cited in Brazil.

Eugenia marambaiensis MCSouza & MPMorim is a tree 7 m high. Leaves elliptic with the cuneiform. Blossom type Raceme, axillary or terminal. Fruit is a Baca 15 mm in diameter, red at maturity.

The species is present in southern Brazil (Rio di Janeiro) until west of Marambaia Restinga.
