Scientific Name - Diascia Hilliard & BL Burtt vigilis

Synonyms -

Popular names - twinspurs, horingkies.

Distribution and Habitat - native and endemic in southern Africa, where the increase from 1800 - 2400 m altitude.

Description - herbaceous perennial, stolonifera, decumbenta. Leaves 1.5-5 x 1-3.5 cm, linear to linear-lanceolate, base rounded, toothed edges. Flowers arranged in terminal raceme, calyx lanceolate SEPA with glandular hairs, corolla tube 5-6 mm, two lateral spurs, 7-9 mm. Entomofila pollination (by insects). Blooms in July-September. Fruit capsule 7-11 mm. Seeds wings.

Growth rate - fast.

Tolerant - up to -10 C temperatures.

Requirements - exhibitions sunny rich soil, light, well-drained.

Management - the flowers are pastmow to encourage flowering in November.

Propagation - vegetative stalk nefloriferi by seedlings, 50-60 cm long, spring. Seedlings roots emit a substrate rich in humus and well drained.
