Scientific name - Erica meat The first published name for this species was Erica herbacea, the name of Erica meat was accepted in 1999 by International Botanical Congress. Synonyms -- Popular names - Winter Heath, scopina. Distribution and Habitat - originally from the mountainous areas of central and southern Europe, where it grows along with conifers, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi, Polygala chamaebuxus, Rhododendron hirsutum up to 2600 m altitude. Description - undergrowth of 15-30 cm height. Leaves persistent, linear, dark green, 4-8 mm long, 4 on each ordered verticil. Campanulata Flowers arranged in raceme; Corola gamopetala, 4-6 mm long, dark pink, rarely white, brown stamens 8, higher than the petals, the style much longer than the stamens, favors pollination it by insects.
