Scientific Name - Geranium argenteum L. Synonyms - Popular names - geranio Argentino. Distribution and Habitat - grows on limestone rocks in northern and central Italy to the SE of France from 1600 to 2100 m altitude. Description - herbaceous perennial, rhizome vertical. Leaves basal, 2-3 cm wide, densely silver-sided sericee; lobe sections, each lobe with three segments linear-oblong, 8-12 cm long stalks. Peduncle 5-10 cm, with two flowers hermaphrodite, pentamere, small bracts. Sepals 5, mucronate at the top, semi-nested. Petals 1.5 cm, obovate, emarginate, pale pink, 10 stamens united at the base, arranged in two vertical superior ovary. Blooms in July and August. Frcut capsule schizocarp skin, 3 cm.
