Scientific name - Globularia cordifolia L.

Distribution and Habitat - xerophytes endemic species in the Alps, grows on rape, dry and sunny meadows, up to 2630 m altitude.

Description - undergrowth; prostrata strain or creeping with Solon. Strains florifere, 2-14 cm without leaves or bracts 1-2. Leaves evergreen, alternate, lamina uninerva, coriacee, 4-7 x 10-20 mm, obovata or spatula, suborbiculare, top round, mucronata; petiole 2-4 cm. Global capital blossom, 1-2 cm, bracts lanceolata, acuminata and pubescent. Calyx 3.5 mm, Chile. Corola blue-violet. 8-10 mm, 3 upper petals longer and 2 lower petals shorte. 4 stamens, 4 mm. Blooms in April-August. Fruit achenes, 2-3 mm.

Natural partners - Calamagrostis varia, Daphne cneorum, Drias octopetala, Globularia repens, Gypsofila repens, Leontopodium alpinum.
