Description - ridged stems, 100 cm height. Flowers solitary, terminal, bisexual. Involucre 11 cm diameter, overall, bracts oblong-ovata. Corola red-purple. Achenes brown, Papus two times longer than the achenes, purple-brown. 2n = 26.
