Genus Silene contains about 700 species originating in the Mediterranean Sea basin, Silene is the largest genus of Caryophyllaceae in Turkey. Silene bitlisensi - herbaceous perennial species, floral stem is 20-45 cm high, 1.5 mm diameter, glabra, glauca, branched from the base.
