Silene bitlisensis O. Tugay & Ertugrul

Genus Silene contains about 700 species originating in the Mediterranean Sea basin, Silene is the largest genus of Caryophyllaceae in Turkey.

Silene bitlisensi - herbaceous perennial species, floral stem is 20-45 cm high, 1.5 mm diameter, glabra, glauca, branched from the base. Basal leaves are spatulate-lanceolata, glabra, with edges Chile, acuminata. Leaves gradually caulinare descrescatoare to blossom, 18-30 x 2-5 mm, elliptic-lanceolata, acuminata, green glauca. Cimoasa blossom, with one or two flowers, glabra. Bractei 6-10 mm, subulate, glabra, with edges Chile. Pedicel 4.12 mm glabru. Calyx glabru, glauca, 10 nervatiuni; lobe 2-3 mm, triangular-acute to acuminata. Petals 28-30 mm, cream, lobes 7-8 mm, oblong auricle, 2 mm filament glabru stamina. Fruit capsule.

Habitat - Silene bitlisensis grows on coastal 1650-1700 m altitude Grammosciadium pterocarpum Boiss., Helichrysum graveolens Sweet., Helichrysum plicatum DC. subsp. plicatum, Inula heterolepis Boiss., Alkanna froedinii Rech.fil, Onosma procerum Boiss., Aethionema membranaceum DC., and Onobrychis stenostachya Freyn subsp. Krause Hedge.
