Scientific name - Teucrium chamaedrys

Synonyms - Teucrium veronicifolium Salisb, officinalis Moench chamaedrys, Teucrium officinale Lam.

Popular names - common camedrio, querciola, gernabder wall.

Distribution and Habitat - area limited to the Mediterranean coast, grows on dry meadows, ravines and sunny roscioase in pine and oak forests, up to 1700 m altitude.

Description - subfrutescenta perennial plant with branched rhizome. Stems simple, lignified at the base, 30 cm height, edges, gray green to brown. Leaves pubescent, dark green, coriacee, opposite, lower leaves are short petiolate, upper leaves sessile, ovate-form ovata or oblong, the base cunea, spatula, cordiforme, or lobed edges crenata. Inflorescence with fragrant flowers, hermaphrodite, inserted in groups of 2-6 in leaf whorls in the upper arm. Calyx tubular-Campanula 5lanceolate teeth triangular, shorter than tube, green or red. Corolla pink-purple or pale yellow, lower lobe divided into 4 small lobes, a lobe shape than obovata, margine crenata or wavy. Androceu 4 stamens. Blooms in May-July. Fruit Tetra-Achen.
