Popular names: English - Laurestinus Viburnum, tinus Laurel, Tinus laurifolius, Italian - lentaggine, Lauro-tino, alloro-tino, laurentino.

Viburnum tinus is originally from southern Europe and the Mediterranean.

John Gerard wrote first on Viburnum tinus in Herball in 1597.

Bush, crown oval, thick, 3 m high, young branches pubescent, flexible purple. Murguri pink. Leaves persistent or subopuse opposite, simple, margin entire pubescent; language ovat, pubescent, top acute, base round; nervatiune pinnate, 5-10 cm long, 2,5-4 cm wide, petiole pubescent. Flowers hermaphrodite, white-pinkish, arranged in umbele compound, calyx small, campanulata, red, Corola campanulata, external recurvata, 5 petals rounded short tube. Infloresti in December to March. Pollination is done by insects. Fruit drupe, oval, fleshy, dark blue metallic.

They prefer direct sun but can grow in semi-shade, slightly alkaline soil, sandy soil, can grow on soils and clay. Tolerate frosts, but not higher than -15 ° C.

Is multiplied by cuttings and by seeds. The seedlings of stalk shoots, early summer in a greenhouse. If cuttings are mature timber should give roots spring. The best time for transplanting are spring and autumn. Are shearing after blooming.

The seeds in cold greenhouse immediately after fruit ripening. Germination takes place after 18 months. If seeds are not fully matured and is immediately seamna cold greenhouse, can germinate until the following spring.
